Experimental Painting

This extremely useful two day course gives artists of all levels the opportunity to explore new painting materials and methods with which they might transform their painting practice. Through a mixture of one to one tuition and demonstrations Tutor Jesse Leroy Smith will help students to push the boundaries of their practice.

The course will enable students to try out all sorts of techniques which they might not have previously combined with their work. Collage, oil based resist, ink and marble dust washes, pen and ink, intaglio mark making, word association, carborundum and dry pigment and many more exciting elements which will hugely increase the armoury of techniques used in students’ future painting practice.

Where to meet:

Please meet at Newlyn School of Art at 9.50am for a 10am start.

Level:

All skill levels, from beginners to those with more experience. If you have any specific access or support requirements please give us a call at the time of booking to discuss your needs.

Age:

We would advise that this course is suitable for those of 16 years of age and upwards. We put these guidelines in place for the safety, comfort and enjoyment of all our students.

What to bring:

A3 Sketchbook, a range of pencils. Please wear old clothes.

Lunch:

Please bring a packed lunch.
