Inspired by O'Casey

This wonderful two day course will be taught by Mary Crockett who worked directly with Breon O'Casey in his studio making prints with the artist towards the end of his life. Stoneman Gallery in Penzance who made many of O'Casey's prints over the years have generously agreed to lend Newlyn School of Art a number of the original graphic plates made by O'Casey to help us teach this course. Holding the plates next to the finished prints will create a remarkable insight into the printmaking process and an unmissable opportunity for fans of O'Casey to make their own prints under expert guidance. The course will concentrate on two well known printing processes; the crisp, sharp lines of dry point and carborundum which O'Casey used to create rich textured areas of tone on his prints.

Please meet at 9.50am for a 10am start at Newlyn School of Art, The Old Board School, Chywoone Hill, Newlyn, Cornwall, TR18 5AW.

Level:

All levels of experience. Beginners welcome. If you have any specific access or support requirements please give us a call at the time of booking to discuss your needs.

Age:

We would advise that this course is suitable for those of 16 years of age and upwards. We put these guidelines in place for the safety, comfort and enjoyment of all our students.

What to bring:

A3 Sketch book. Clothes that you are happy to get printing ink on.

Lunch:

Please bring a packed lunch.
