THE PORTRAIT IN OIL
This structured portrait class will offer the student an introduction to the essential skills needed for painting the portrait in oils, including an overview of basic anatomy, structure, composition, blocking in, paint handling and modelling the face in colour with a focus on wet on wet painting using direct painting techniques whilst working from a live model.
The course will focus on the following elements of portrait painting:
- looking at structure and anatomy of head.
- planes and proportion of the head.
- pallet and mixing accurate flesh tone and colour values.
- paint handling and edge control.
- using colour and value to create solidity and light.
- an overview of composition, technical and practical considerations when painting the portrait in oils.
The course is suitable for all levels of previous experience as Jason teaches each student individually to their level as he goes around the class.

£325 (from 2019) payable in full at the time of booking. The cost of all materials is included within the course fee and are provided by the art school
