WATERCOLOUR PAINTING COURSE
This course emphasises the exciting and flexible nature of painting with watercolour encouraging freedom of application through broader use of paint, quick studies and impressions that can be worked up in the studio. Students will be given the opportunity to explore more experimental approaches to watercolour by painting on different surfaces, adding mixed media to the process and by attempting to loosen up techniques working on large paper using big brushes. The course will look at both landscape and still life and the development of techniques in washes, colour mixing, perspective, pattern and texture. On the second day, weather permitting, we will work on location in the old harbour at Newlyn with time spent in the studio pulling everything together and working from the notes, photographs, drawings and colour studies made during field work.
All drawing materials, supports and the loan of a watercolour paint box will be supplied by the art school.
