Dan Pyne

Artist Dan Pyne teaches our 3-day Experimental Painting and is the lead tutor for our year-long Studio Practice course.

Dan Pyne is an interdisciplinary artist working across painting, sculpture, printmaking and installation. A Londoner by birth, Dan has lived in Cornwall since 2010 and is an elected member and ex-chair of the Newlyn Society of Artists.

"Dan Pyne’s work is one that explores the visual power of surfaces. He uses chemical techniques as much as pigment to create colour and depth in his vast vistas of tactile surface-art that grows up between the boundaries of sculpture, installation, and traditional painting. His work is modern-decadent, exploring what is natural in the unnatural, the beauty in decay, the desire in desolation. He usurps natural chemical or geological processes to create something artificial; work that reacts, grows, and decays: mirroring the human experience in something artificially rendered."
